What I wish TBA artist would express in there work. re-authoring and remaking of existing work
I thought of the ideal of remaking existing work. So I decided to remake a piece of my own work.
At first this was just a lamp in the night,after a little photo shop I was able to create an expression of struggle. I can appreciate remaking other work to express your own ideal, but on the other hand I even appreciate more artist who create there own work of personal creativity.
What I wish TBA artist would express in there work.

Erik Friedlander
This is my favorite type of art when it is at a very intimate and personal level. In my opinion it adds a lot more to the work. That personal realism and have it express such emotion with sound I find that elegant and tranquil. Even when the particular theme my be melancholy in nature. My brother Chris who just receive his BFA from the UofO has a project in the brewing that deals with his own personal struggle the medium will iron hand crafted in chains framing of acrylic and other paints. It will also be abstract representational of his own person struggle. Like the work of Erik Friedlander that is favorite genres of art.
I try to have all the work that I do relate to me some how. At times it my be difficult, but always rewarding to create something that relates to me. I like the chance and the opportunity to think outside the box but have an underlining meaning that is personal. I also like to have the story line I create have some of truth is I where in this fantasy tale or living out the truth of life, amongst cultures. I love working with my own personal experiences. Thats I love working in the 3D realm and audio. Audio is such a powerful tool for artist you can add so much express. In my opinion self indulgent would be how Napoleon wanted himself to be displayed in self portraitists. If a particular artist would only make art that dealt with there own emotion, I don't consider that self indulgent.

Dance Sequence Drawings
Sorry but I did like these at all, reason being it seemed to be to chaotic, it was a graph of different dance sequences. I would of enjoyed it better if I could see the dance next to the drawings.
I could appreciate that a lot more. I may be out of place but I don't consider that art at all, so he seem a dance that he like and was so inspired that he wanted to graph it. I maybe missing the underlining point he was trying to make. Why where these dance sequences so important? Some of these pieces where untitled I'm curious on the point he was trying to make. I'm sorry but this was not that appealing to me, the only part that is interesting is the overall piece I have never seem or thought to diagram dances in this manner that itself could be revolutionary. I will give him credit because these pieces where complex and I could tell they took time. But if really look at it how accurate are these graph?Are they just representational dealing with his own personal or accurate to each specific dance move?
My first impression I though to myself what am I looking at, then I read the title. Ok a dance sequence, now I then look for some sort of flow to the graph that could of relate to dancing I didn't. After trying to make my own since of was difficult, and it was uneasy to look at things just became a jumbled mess. Sorry to be such a critic but this was structured chaos of someone else work, I can't truthfully consider this art.

I would love to be able to support myself just solely being an artist, art sells I'm sorry its true.
I buy art that I really like. I plan on making a living this way. If receiving an education is part of the so called system when I finally get all the necessary training I hope it good enough to get me a decent job after I finish my education. I see myself working in the entertainment field hopefully producing video games that would be the great job and I could truthfully love what I do.
Artist should get paid for what they do, I hopefully will myself one day I. I also feel that art should be free also for all to enjoy so at the same time I caught in between. Especially when I have invested into my future by paying for my own education in Digital Arts. It would seem to be a bad investment if I didn't try to be successful. It was a great lecture I enjoyed hearing from a professional in the field I really need to articulate my own ideals as well as the participant of the lecture.

Pink Martini with the 234th Army Band
This was definitely a commercial event, but I didn't feel that out of place. I wish I had time to grab an elephant ear, they looked and smelled tasty. As I looked around it seemed they where a specific group there I feel that this my have been a tribute to Oregonian as a whole. I felt it was a good decision by TBA to incorporated it especially on the 150th anniversary of Oregon being a state. Don't get me wrong Oregon history isn't perfect, a lot of horrible, disgraceful have came out of this state. On the other hand a lot of great things have happened also. I feel it was a great event to show what good has came out of the state.
These sort of social practice have been around since the dawn of day. Large groups getting together for some sort of celebration. Partaking in food and drinks and enjoying the show and each other. Its just like going to an art gallery but some would consider this entertainment. Being a musician is a is a form of art. The art is in the music, and the entertainment is the gathering. I would consider a lot of entertainment as art especially video games from the programmer to the animators, sound engineers to be a form of art.
I really don't think that these commercial event will blur time based art. Art is art, the only thing that can really hinder time based art is those that loosely use the term. I would consider the musical a form of art. People go to these commercial event to get entertained, but at the root this is art.
